Torque Calibration Services and Certification
Through normal use tool calibration for torque drivers, pulse tools or torque wrench can lose accuracy. Every torque wrench should be calibrated and certified a minimum of once every 12 months or 5,000 cycles.
Allow American Power Tool to assist in maintaining the accuracy and accountability of your torque wrenches through tool calibration and certification. Our factory trained technicians calibrate and repair all major brands of torque wrenches – click, dial, and pre-set.
We calibrate to ISO 6789:2003 or ANSI/NCSL Z540 Standards. All of our test instruments are calibrated using traceable Certification Standards.
American Power Tool can calibrate and certify torque wrenches up to 2,000 ft. lb.
American Power Tool can also calibrate and certify rotary torque control tools such as: screwdrivers, nut runners, and pulse tools, both pneumatic and electric. These tools are tested according to ISO 5393:1994 and our equipment for this uses traceable Certification Standards.
We currently can calibrate screwdrivers, nut runners, and pulse tools up to 200 ft. lb.
Each tool that passes calibration is returned with torque certification papers for your records.
Hoist Load Testing and Certification
All hoists through normal use will see wear on key safety parts.
The hoist repair and safety department of American Power Tool specialize in the critical inspection, repair, and load testing certification of hoists to insure operator safety.
Our trained technicians perform the following inspections during the testing process:
- Inspect upper mounting and lower hook for damage, wear and stretch.
- Inspect the length of the load chain for wear, stretch or damage (such as weld splatter).
- Inspect the braking mechanism for excessive wear or damage that could cause failure of the hoist to perform correctly.
- Lubricate parts as necessary.
- Perform the required load test as specified by the manufacturer of the hoist

Once the hoist has passed this strict process, a certification sticker is affixed directly to the hoist and a certification document is returned for record keeping.
